Messaging and SMS
Every text Caradomi is involved in, who agreed to receive it, and how to make it stop.
Caradomi never sends marketing or promotional text messages. Every message exists because somebody's safety depends on it arriving.
Two different kinds of message
1. Sent by the user's own phone
When someone presses Get Help Now, their phone texts the trusted contact they chose, from their own number. This is an ordinary text message sent by the person themselves, using their own mobile plan. Caradomi prepares the wording and the map link; the phone sends it.
2. Sent by the Caradomi service
When the app notices something the family asked to be told about, our service sends that family member a text. This is the category described below.
What the service sends, and when
| Message | Sent when |
|---|---|
| Emergency — help needed | The user pressed Get Help Now. |
| Missed check-in | The user did not confirm they were alright by the time they chose. |
| No activity | The phone has shown no sign of use for the period the family set. |
| Missed medication | A dose the user scheduled was not confirmed. |
| Smoke or CO alarm heard | The app heard an alarm sounding and nobody responded. |
These service-sent messages are not active yet. Caradomi does not currently send any text message from our own systems. Today the only texts involved are the ones a user's own phone sends to their own trusted contact, described above. This page describes the service we are preparing, so that anyone can read what it will do before it does it.
Who consents, and how
Only a person the Caradomi user has added as a family contact will receive these messages. Before that person receives anything, they will be asked to confirm that they want to — consent belongs to the person whose phone rings, not to somebody entering their number.
Consent will be withdrawable at any time, by them or by the user, and each alert type will be switchable on or off individually. A family member who wants to know about emergencies but not medication will be able to have exactly that.
How often
These are event-driven, not scheduled. Most families receive none in a typical week. There is no recurring or periodic messaging.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any message and that number stops receiving them immediately. Reply HELP for assistance and our contact details. You can also ask us directly at support@caradomi.com, and the Caradomi user can remove any family link from the app's Settings at any time.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
Carriers
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
What these messages contain, and who else ever sees it, is set out in full in the privacy policy.
